Against the Sun

Against The Sun documents the emotions, frivolity, seriousness and abandon that has synthesized in the process of Dorsa’s journey from the California coast to Moscow and finally beyond.

MasterCard and SKOLKOVO are happy to support a person and an artist who has traveled around the planet and whose lifestyle and work as artist, businessman and philanthropist proves that the world has no frontiers. Bart is constantly constructing a reality that transports the viewer into the spiritual and bravely artistic atmosphere. Bart Dorsa has lived, worked and exhibited in USA, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, Iceland and Russia. His work was the subject of solo exhibitions at Moscow Museum of Modern Art and Pobeda Gallery, Moscow.

Dorsa’s haunting images are shot on metal and glass plates and will be displayed within a dark monolith. The dramatic space-within-space structure will disrupt the modern interior space of Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. The exhibit will introduce emotional and experimental imagery with basic expression in a space where light is annihilated and only reflections of Dorsa’s photographic glass plates cut the darkness.

A kinetic sculpture called The Flaming Duck will be on display as part of the exhibition. A bicycle-powered flame ejecting kinetic sculpture was conceived as a gift to Bart’s father and developed and produced with a team of artists in Northern California, USA.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Bart Dorsa has worked with various media from moving pictures through photography to sculpture and installation art. Against The Sun offers the view on the cosmopolitan artist’s polyphonic practices in various fields of visual arts.
